REDB - Red Butte Creek, NEON Aquatic Field Site | Utah
Red Butte Creek is a NEON aquatic field site located just east of Salt Lake city, Utah in NEON’s Domain 15. This stream is confined within a steep canyon drainage basin in the southwestern Rocky Mountains and is fed by a 16.7 square kilometer watershed. Abundant hardwood trees and willows surround Red Butte Creek while grasses and shrubs comprise the understory. Red Butte Creek was declared a Research Natural Area because of its status as one of the last undisturbed watersheds in the Great Basin. Aquatic organisms collected at Red Butte include aquatic microbes, macroinvertebrates, algae, and plants. Automated instruments at the site also collect physical and chemical properties of the creek, surrounding atmosphere and adjacent riparian area. Precipitation data is collected with a Double Fence Intercomparison Reference (DFIR) near the stream. Red Butte Creek is managed by the US Forest Service, and Salt Lake City Watershed Division.The climate of Red Butte Creek is characterized by hot, dry summers and long, cold winters with most precipitation occurring in the winter and spring. This results in the creek being mostly snowmelt driven.

    Great explanation. Has anyone ever thought of using these ideas for a language model? You would have continuous learning built in due to the Bayesian Approach?

    7:22 just to make that statement stand on its own, as you increase your spatial resolution, you decrease your spectral resolution because you must also widen your spectral band pass to get good SNR across multiple smaller pixels.

    First deployment of any substance actually occurred up at CPER in April of 2016 with the COMROD tower. How do you prevent the exhaust from the generator being ingested into the HVAC intake on the hut? Has Staarmann's mobile power hut/trailer/three Kohler propane generator/battery storage fiasco been abandoned?

    Quick point of clarification…The drone is either a Matrice 300 or 350. It’s not a 600 (which is a hexacopter not a quadcopter).

    The video installment in the Ecological Forecasting series serves as an illuminating exposition on the application of Bayesian statistical inference to predictive environmental modeling. It critically examines the classical presuppositions inherent in conventional statistical frameworks and delineates the methodologies for quantifying and reconciling the variances between empirical observations and model projections. By emphasizing Bayesian inference, the presentation underscores a paradigmatic shift towards embracing probabilistic approaches that accommodate the inherent uncertainties in ecological data and model structures, thus offering a more robust and nuanced understanding of future ecological states. This Bayesian perspective is particularly pivotal for advancing the accuracy of ecological forecasts, which are integral to strategic environmental planning and decision-making.

    Some errors, no clock can measure the time it takes light to travel such a short distance. Each pulse has a unique 'signature' and the sensor tracks when it leaves and when it returns, then calculates the distance afterwards.

    Bonjour, Merci pour votre vidéo, tout est très clair. Il y a un point que je ne comprends pas très bien, par rapport à la réception de l'onde. L'onde envoyée au sol arrive avec un certain degré par rapport au sol. Donc l'onde réfléchi devrait rebondir symétriquement. Je ne comprends pas comment le LiDAR peut récupérer l'onde réfléchie, alors qu'à cette distance, et avec cet angle d'inclinaison, l'onde réfléchie ne devrait pas atteindre le LiDAR. J'espère que ma question est suffisamment claire. rayon laser / \ / \ / \ / \ / \ / \ / \ / \ / X <- Surface du sol

    • @NEONScience
      @NEONScience 11 місяців тому

      Il s’agit d’une excellente question. Effectivement, le laser suit la loi de la réflexion qui indique que l'angle d'incidence est identique à l'angle de réflexion. Cependant, lorsqu’une impulsion laser est réfléchie sur le sol, le principe de la diffusion s’applique à l’onde, ce qui explique que le lidar mesure une énergie de retour. L’image est pièce jointe illustre bien le principe de diffusion du laser ainsi que la loi de la réflexion. Grâce à sa capacité à émettre des centaines à des millions d’impulsion laser en une seconde, le lidar reçoit l’énergie de retour. Lors de la planification du vol, l’opérateur assure un chevauchement longitudinal et latéral conséquent pour garantir que les secteurs les plus éloignées du nadir (90 degrés) soient survolés deux fois. De plus, la densité des points par mètre carré (par exemple, 2pts/m2 en foresterie) est généralement augmentée, anticipant ainsi la perte de données liée à la loi de la réflexion et du principe de diffusion. Durant un vol d’acquisition lidar, plutôt que de maintenir une altitude constante, le pilote s'efforce de suivre la topographie du terrain, cherchant à rester perpendiculaire au sol (au nadir), ce qui permet une plus grande réception des ondes émises.

    In my calculation the speed of light is about 144 miles/ s but couldn't verified yet... If we use 1 mile of fiber glass wound than accurate timing of light speed and same light send through a transparent tube same length then calibration of speed of light for LIDAR or radar could be achieve for better avionics calibration
